Equine Rescue

Welcome to our non-profit site!

We all have important values and ideas- things we care about and want to share. Sometimes we feel our ideas can even change the world, and we want to let other people know how they can join in and make all our lives better.  We want to improve the lives of unwanted horses and invite you to join us!!
We are run 100% by volunteers and have no paid staff.  We do accept community service workers also.

Mission Statement

To assist horses in need, and also to educate the public on the continual care (both physically and emotionally) of their horses.  We offer support, guidance and training for new horse owners and support for those who have owned horses for some time.  We have implemented a children's program to help educate them on natural horsemanship, riding and also the proper care of horses.  We also assist all breeds of horses in need, rehabing them back into useful members of the equine society.

Please note, if you are trying to contact us, use 760-807-7558.

Due to increased costs everywhere and issues we have had with our old toll free number, we have decided to ditch it and just use our cell number.  Please do remember, this is Tania's cell and unless its an emergency, call between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause!!!

Well, summer is underway here in the beautiful high desert.  We have had several days well over 100 already and its only June. We have roughly 4 more months of hot summer to enjoy before we have to worry about our chilly winter.  Feed prices seem to continue to go up, good quality, affordable feed is getting harder and harder to fine these days and although we have had a few adoptions in past months we are still struggling to cover feed, vet, farrier, chiropractic, supplement costs.
We have managed to downsize a little, only because we have not been able to take in any new horses since early this year, we currently have 18 head at the ranch and are going thru roughly $55 per day in feed alone.
We rely heavily on donations to keep our animals cared for and to do repairs on corrals and fencing around the ranch. For more information, to make an appt to drop off donated items, check out our horses, or to volunteer with us please give me a call at 760-807-7558/cell

Thanks in advance
Tania Bennett

Since we rely on donations to run the rescue and donations have been way down, we hold several events including the American Competitive Trail Horse Association, High Desert Versatility Challenge, and the all new Equestrian Trail Sport.  Be sure to check out the details on our Newsletter page and come join us for one or all of these great events and the best part is that all of these events benefit Mustang-Spirit.
If your not in a position to compete, please consider volunteering or donating items we can use as gifts and prizes at our events.  We need assistance with set up/tear down, lunch, judging obstacles, timers and just all around volunteers to help the event run smoother.  Also, if you have a non-profit and would like to sign up to do lunch, please let us know...we are very willing to work with other groups!
Give us a call for any ride questions at 760-807-7558/cell-Tania

Mustang-Spirit is a 501(c)3 non-profit horse rescue.  We opened our gates in 2002 when two friends decided too many horses were going to slaughter and they wanted to save as many as possible.  Of course we know we can't save them all, but during the past 11 years we have helped over 600 horses.
We utilize foster homes to offer more options and locations to take in these horses in need.
Although we started out as a "mustang" rescue we have since opened up to accept all breeds in need and even the occasional livestock or parrot when we are able to.
